"Search 4 The Stars" Event is a Great Success

"Search 4 The Stars" held Saturday evening in the Coleman High School auditorium was a huge success as approximately 25 contestants performed for an excited and energetic group of people numbering close to 125. Clyde Saverance performed as Master of Ceremonies and did a great job. He entertained the people between acts and kept things moving right along.

Along with the help of Mickey Holloway the many acts took their turns and each one was someone gifted who entertained those present. There were singers and dancers and judges were tested in making a decision as to the winners. As Clyde Saverance said "We are so blessed and fortunate to have so much talent in Coleman, Coleman County and the surrounding territory. Our future looks very bright with the young people that are coming behind us and will be leaders in our community."

Barbara Brown founder of the C.H. Hale Prostate Cancer Foundation and also founder of the "Search 4 The Stars" event, spoke with those present and told how the money received that night would go toward the C.H. Hale Scholarship Fund for cancer and some would be used to help those with cancer in certain needs. It was noted that through the years of helping others, they have lost only two to cancer. This was wonderful news. It was noted by Brown at a later time that the event garnered approximately $1,000.

During the evening individuals were recognized and given an ovation for their dedication and hard work for the community. These were Coleman County Judge Jimmie Hobbs, Cite of Coleman's Mayor Nick Poldrack and Billie Mercer for her media work.

Between acts, numbers were drawn and door prizes were won by various ones in the audience.

When their performances ended all contestants were brought back on the stage and received a standing ovation from the audience.

Winners in the contest; Singing Division were First Place to Holly Tucker of Lorena, Texas with their rendition of "Broken Wing"; Second Place to Analiese Espinoza of Sweetwater singing "Proud Mary"; and Third Place was Hannah Gray of Brady performing "Strawberry Wine".

Two young men dancing in perfect harmony were Adam Jiminez and Patrick Warrick both of Coleman who won First Place in the Dance Division an Second Place to Bobby Olson of Coleman doing a soft shoe routine.

During the threat of cold, ice and snow, the show went right on and the weather turned out to be nice.

Brown and all her helpers, whom she thanked an they lined up on stage, are to be commended for a job well done and for giving the young an opportunity to perform before a live audience. We know it took lots of work on the part of all, but when they looked on the faces of the many contestants they were well paid. Who knows? This could have launched the determination of one or two of these gifted young people to follow a career and become famous in their own right! Wouldn't that be wonderful!!

Thank you, Barbara Brown, and all your helpers!
